Want To Invest? Stocks Are Your Best Friend
Want To Invest? Stocks Are Your Best Friend by Wilfrid Baptiste
History suggests that stocks are the best investment you can make when you're in it for the long haul. No matter the investment vehicle, be it bonds, cash, diamonds, silver, gold, in the long run stocks give the best returns. I read in a lot of places that stocks returns are higher than real estate returns but I don't personally agree. Real estate returns are calculated on the basis of the property's appreciation, but if you want to calculate your personal return on a real estate investment, you have to account for the fact that only part of your investment was financed with your own money... But I digress...
What happens if you compare stocks to cash over the long term? A good example of a cash investment is money invested in three-month Treasuries or a first-rate money market fund. A cash investment is NOT the emergency savings fund that is recommended you keep on hand for a rainy day. Over the past 60 years, cash has turned out to be a loser. After accounting for inflation, cash has returned an average 0.5% per year since 1926, compared to 6.9% for the S&P 500.

Investment property is a bit of an unsure market at the moment, given the threatened worldwide recession. The rich/poor divide is becoming ever wider with those that can afford investment property and those whose accommodation is subject to what others can afford. However, this situation, like every other recession the world has suffered, will eventually pass and if you can hang on to an investment property through the rough times, you are guaranteed of a decent income or, at the very least, a retirement home, later in life. |

The Basics Of Short-Term Investing
The Basics Of Short-Term Investing by David Brishen
Investing basics focuses on two broad sets of goals: short term and long term. The vast majority of investors have a plan for both and they have portfolios of stocks and bonds that they put together in order to best meet their short term and long term investment goals.
When it comes to short-term investing, one of your short-term investment goals may be to give yourself a "bonus" of $3,000 by the end of the year. For meeting that goal, one thing that you could do is invest money in companies that are known to be paying out dividends.
Dividends are paid out by companies to their qualifying stock holders. They are typically paid out in what is known as DPS, or Dividends Per Share. Typically, dividends are paid out quarterly, or four times per year. Not all companies who issue stock pay dividends. However, the vast majority of well-established and basically stable companies that are not in periods of rapid growth (meaning they need to use up most of their profits instead of pay them out) do pay dividends, and they are often a way of balancing out the volatility of their stocks' share price and thus attracting more potential investors.

Run Your Investments Like a Business
Run Your Investments Like a Business by Adam Khoo
I have found that people who have made money consistently through their investments are able to do so because they treat it with same seriousness as they would in building a business or a second career.
If you treat investing as just a "by-the-way" activity that you spend time on now and then, you will never be able to succeed. So, how can you run your investing activity professionally like a home business?
Just as an entrepreneur has to decide on the mix of products that his business will sell, you have to decide on the type of investment strategies you will use to generate the profits that you aim for. You also have to decide how you are going to allocate your investment funds between them.
